BRGM intensifies its recruitment of post-doctoral students

In order to ramp up its research output on the priorities defined in its scientific strategy, the French Geological Survey (BRGM) has decided to change its policy concerning post-doctoral students.

BRGM pays particular attention to the recruitment and supervision of temporary research staff. For this reason, it has adopted a charter for the integration of post-doctoral researchers in line with good practice.

A recruitment target of 15 post-docs has been set for 2020. From now on, it will be possible to recruit them up to 5 years after they have defended their theses, and the recruitment and supervision procedures have been revised. Recruitment will be carried out within the framework of active research projects or projects that are about to begin, with contracts of up to 18 months.

By bringing in new talent, the French Geological Survey aims to help them at the start of their careers in research and innovation.

As France’s reference institute for the management of surface and subsurface resources and risks, BRGM, the French Geological Survey, works under the joint authority of the Ministry for Higher Education and Research and Innovation, the Ministry for Ecological and Inclusive Transition and the Ministry of the Economy and Finance. It has several strategic roles: scientific research, support for public policy development, research partnerships, international cooperation and development assistance, mine safety and risk prevention, and higher education. It is the French Geological Survey.
